Seems pretty useful… but huge usage of CPU on imac mid-2011 (12 Go ram, i5 2,5 Ghz)… waiting for update :D !

Not happy with the app. No instructions, no walkthrough, just notifications of ports opening, not telling you what application is using the port. Have to open the terminal to do a sudo command to know what it is.

2.2.1 update: Annoyingly I cannot clear old “Firewall is Disabled”alerts from May of this year, otherwise it seems to be working ok. My biggest gripe is the annoying alerts that cannot be dismissed saying my Ffirewall is Disabled, which it isn’t and they cannot be removed or cleared until I went to 4Shadow’s Preferences and changed it from “Default Apple Firewall” to “Apple Firewall”. I‘m not sure what the differences are but after I removed the incorrcet warnings I set it back to “Default Apple Firewall” which did not remove the warning after a reboot. Switched to “Apple Firewall” in 4Shadow’s preferences pane and again, on reboot the warning cannot be cleared unless I continue to annoyingly open 4Shadow’s preferences. Update: I changed it to “Apple Firewall” went into 4Shadow’s Preferences>Network Safety>Advanced and white listed some ports which I should’ve done sooner and I changed my rating to 3 stars since that seemed to dismiss the firewall is disabled error. Well, several days later that same irritating firewall is disabled issue is back again! So. it’s back to one star till they update & fix the issue. Looks like I might just uninstall it for a while, possibly forever. I had asked a security expert what his thoughts were on 4Shadow: “...the MIM protection is great defending against a 2000 era Arp attack…but in no way protects your traffic from WIFI eavesdroppers.” If this is true then I’m sure near future updates to 4Shadow will not only improve protection for the user but performance and squash nitpicky bugs.

The new UI is clean and simple. 4Shadow is the intrusion dectection app for Mac OS X. It’s a great app!

Lets me use open and shared networks with confidence.

You can’t see the menubar icon when using the dark theme in OSX 10.10. Can we get an option to use a ‘light icon’?

Like app. Nice to see processes that are reaching out to internet, or escalating their privileges. Need more whitelist control. Background: I wanted to keep my eye on a few processes before I decided if I wanted to whitelist them, or not (e.g., offfice365service). Now that I have decided I am not too worried, I can’t get the app to give me the whitelist option again. Sorta expected that functionality to be there. Left message with developer 2 days ago or so, no response.
